SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS & WORKSHOPS

 

Pete Coe has been a professional touring & recording folk musician since 1971, playing at festivals, concerts, dances & schools throughout Europe, Asia & USA. He’s a qualified teacher with considerable primary, secondary & adult education experience. Pete has a clear enhanced CRB check. He has an enormous repertoire of traditional songs & music suitable for all ages & abilities. He plays a variety of instruments, melodeon, banjo, bouzouki, dulcimer, jaws harp & percussion, he’s a country dance creator, caller & musician. He sings, plays & step dances, sometimes all at once! Recent projects have included storytelling for the National Literacy Trust “Kick into Reading” scheme, working with major league football clubs and a Heritage Lottery funded “Take 6” project for the English Folk Dance and Song Society reintroducing old children’s singing games, from their archives, to schools in English regions. As a musician he’s skilled & entertaining, presenting his songs with authority & good humour with a strong accent on participation. As a former teacher, his presentations support National Curriculum work in Music & Literacy, PE - Dance, History, Culture & Traditions, Sound & Science. Most of his presentations fit into existing school projects & frequently inspire further ideas for extension activities and can contribute enhancement to the Music Manifesto in schools.

All workshops are adaptable to suit wide age and ability ranges. Pete often does school workshops during the day and fund-raising concerts in the evening for parents and pupils..
