Instrumental Information
Pete is often asked about the instruments he plays, so here's some details and credits BOUZOUKI (Sobell) 8 string and tuned G D A D ( bottom two pairs in octaves). APPALACHIAN DULCIMER (Sobell) 6 string, mainly tuned D A D (bottom pair in octaves) sometimes an Eminor tuning is used ( D A E) Pete mainly plays finger style song accompaniments. MELODEONS ( Hohner) in G/D & C/F are Club Model II's circa 1936, hence the sweet sounding reeds. Both are 2 and half rows and have been modified to suit Pete's requirements BANJO Now the lovely new Dave Stacey
long neck model. Watch this space for the photograph. The Epiphone has gone to a grand new home in Dorset.
BASS BALALAIKA - origin unknown but Pete couldn't resist buying it after seeing it advertised in Folk Roots. Its a monster - but good fun. Only used for recording & occasional outings with dance bands. Special workshops available! FEET - Appalachian flatfooting used as percussion accompaniments to songs etc. It took Pete 47 years to realise that he did know the difference between left foot and right foot thanks to Sue Coe, Ira Bernstein and Eileen Carson he can now do quite a lot of stepping, whilst singing and playing and doesn't fall over quite as often as in former years |
